Biosphere Expeditions is a non-profit, multi-award-winning nature conservation organization and a member of the IUCN and the United Nations Environment Program. The organization is convinced that successful nature conservation is based on cooperation and therefore works scientifically concerning local requirements. Biosphere Expeditions concentrates on long-term projects that have clear and above all achievable goals. Volunteers from all over the world work hand in hand with field researchers and local people for the conservation of biodiversity. The creation of a protected nature reserve for snow leopards in the Altai is just one example of many of the recent past.

Biosphere Expeditions is a member of the IUCN (The International Union for the Conservation of Nature) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). Numerous national and regional governments are implementing the recommendations of Biosphere Expeditions on nature and species protection strategies. The organization has contributed to the creation of protected areas on four continents. Besides, Biosphere Expeditions promotes the training of specialists and thus creates local capacities. Research results are regularly published in specialist magazines and other media around the world.
